Palm Sunday: Aroyewun Congratulates, Urges Christians To Emulate Jesus Examples

‎Mariam Akinloye

The Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has congratulated Christians in his council on the celebration of Psalm Sunday today.

‎In a statement commemorating the day which signified the beginning of Holy Week,  Aroyewun also urged the Christian faithful to emulate Jesus Christ:

‎”Today, we wave our palms. We shout Hosanna! We welcome the King of Kings, riding humbly into Jerusalem, not on a warhorse, but on a donkey.

‎”A King who chose love over might, and service over power.

‎”Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the Holy Week, the most sacred week in the Christian calendar. As we hold our branches high, let us also hold on to the truth that true greatness lies in humility and sacrifice. He who came to serve rather than to be served has left us the greatest example we could ever follow.

‎”To all my Christian brothers and sisters in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA and beyond, I say, welcome to Holy Week. Walk it with reverence. Walk it with faith.

‎”Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” -Matthew 21:9,  the council administrator quoted.
